About Zaporizhzhia National University Zaporizhzhia National University was founded in 1985. The University is an educational-scientific complex, that includes Azov Regional Management Institute, Nikopol Institute, Scientific-Research Institute of Metrology and Certification, Institute of Zaporozhye Cossacks, a liceum, a gymnasium, an electrotechnical college, a pedagogical school and 8 specialised schools. Since 1996 the University has gone over to the three-step education, i.e. training of Bachelors, Specialists and Masters.
There are more than 8191 students at the University now, among them 5307 are day-time students. More than 565 lecturers teach at the University, among them 269 are doctors or candidates of science.
There are 11 faculties at the University, that offer tuition in 26 Specialized fields: Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Economic Cybernatics, Physics, Physics of Solid State, Biology, Law, Sociology, Psychology, History, Social Work, Physical Education, Physical Rehabilitation, Olympic and Professional Sport, Accounting and Audit, Finance and Credit, Russian Language and Literature, Foreign Language and Literature (English, German, French), Translation (English, German, French), Journalism, Management of the Company External Economic Activities, Management in Production Area, etc. There is a Faculty of Postdiploma Education, Preparatory Department. The Postgraduate Education is available at the University, 10 scientific schools are based in the University.
The most perspective directions of scientific research are Mathematical Modelling in Natural Siences and Economics; Development of Analytical and Numerical Methods of Analysis of Complex Mechanical Systems on the Basis of Modern Computer Technologies with Solution of the Problem of Visualisation of Investigated Processes; Vital Problems of Magnetism Physics, Amorphous State and Physics of Surface; Social Pedagogics and Psychology; History of Ukraine and Zaporozhye Cossacks; History of Midieval Europe; Flora and Fauna: research, protection, rational use; Research on Biologically Active Combinations of Natural and Synthetic Origin; Problems of Education under New Social Conditions; Social-Legislative Defence; Strategic and Practical Management.
International cooperation spreads on to the Universities in Russia, Germany, the USA, Great Britain, Poland, Bulgaria, Holland, Austria, France and Canada.
