Accommodation	Student accommodation and cost: University dormitories are available for all foreign students. If a student studies on a budgetary basis then his/her fee will be 104,50 RUR (US $4) per MONTH (and this payment should be made for 6 months at once). If a student studies on a commercial basis then his/her payment for the dormitory will be 658 RUR (US $22) or 566 RUR (US $20) per MONTH. The price is different because there are 2 different dormitories.

About Siberian State Medical University

Siberian State Medical University (SSMU) is one of the oldest and most reputable medical universities in Russia. It was founded as Tomsk Emperor's University in 1888 and was the first university in the Asian part of Russia.

Nowadays Siberian State Medical University is a big research and education complex which includes 6 faculties, 2 research institutes, Central Research Laboratory, 9 research and education centers, interdisciplinary academic and research laboratories, multidisciplinary clinics for 830 beds, 3 anatomical theatres housing unique collections and the biggest in the region scientific and medical library.

According to the rating of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science, SSMU has been in top 5 of the leading medical universities of Russia for many years. Year over year the number of students is growing steadily; they come to study in SSMU from other regions of Russia, CIS and far abroad countries.

The university faculty includes 650 Doctors and Candidates of science as well as 8 members of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences. More than 50 workers of the University have such honorary degrees as “Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation”, “Honored Doctor of the Russian Federation”, “Honored Worker of Higher Education of the Russian Federation” etc.

SSMU is rapidly developing as an innovative university:

SSMU was the first medical university in Russia to receive financial support from the Government of the Russian Federation for realizing the program of innovation infrastructure development (2010)
SSMU was the initiator and coordinator of the technological platform “Medicine of the future”, which was approved and recommended for realization by the Government of the Russian Federation (2011)
SSMU is the only medical university in Russia to become a partner of “Skolkovo” Innovation center (as a member of the consortium of Tomsk universities); researchers of SSMU have launched the first resident company of “Skolkovo” in the field of medicine in Tomsk (2011)
Clinics of SSMU provide high technology medical care in abdominal surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, thoracic surgery, ophthalmology, urology etc.
In SSMU the first behind the Urals Simulation center for specialist training and professional retraining was established with support of the Russian Healthcare Ministry (2011).
